> A mainstream 8-day Yunnan route that keeps Kunming, Dali, and Lijiang intact, then adds Shangri-La only with enough altitude and transfer buffer to stay sellable.

## Route Summary
- Days: 8 days
- Route line: Kunming -> Dali -> Lijiang -> Shangri-La -> Lijiang / Kunming departure
- Best for: Travelers who want one fuller Yunnan trip with old towns, lake scenery, and a real Shangri-La chapter.
- Not for: Travelers with weak altitude tolerance, very late arrivals, or groups trying to add extra snow-mountain and remote detours on top.
- Main tradeoff: Broader Yunnan coverage over lower-altitude comfort.

## Route Reality Check
Eight days is the shortest point where Shangri-La can be added with some logic. It still needs disciplined pacing and should not be overpacked.

## Choose This If
Choose this if Shangri-La is truly part of the trip goal and the group can handle altitude and transfer load.

## Avoid This If
Avoid this if the group mainly wants slow Dali and Lijiang atmosphere without highland pressure.

## Booking Readiness
- Minimum nights: Kunming 1 night - Dali 2 nights - Lijiang 2 nights - Shangri-La 1 night.
- If short on time: If fewer than eight real days are available, remove Shangri-La and use the lower-altitude Dali / Lijiang version.
- Booking warning: Do not force extra remote add-ons once Shangri-La is already included.

## Day-By-Day Route Rhythm
- D1 Kunming arrival and recovery around Green Lake / old city if arrival is early.
- D2 Kunming to Dali, then Dali Old Town and Erhai edge. Keep the evening gentle.
- D3 Dali full day: Xizhou, Erhai lakeside, Cangshan, markets, or cafe base time by energy and weather.
- D4 Dali to Lijiang, then Lijiang Old Town or Shuhe evening. Keep the transfer day low pressure.
- D5 Lijiang day with Baisha, Shuhe, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain / Blue Moon Valley, or old-town texture chosen by weather, tickets, altitude, and walking comfort.
- D6 Lijiang to Shangri-La with altitude kept light on arrival: Dukezong Old Town, hotel recovery, and no aggressive highland hiking.
- D7 Shangri-La day: Songzanlin Monastery / old town / Napa Lake or meadow rhythm by season and comfort. Keep the day highland-aware and do not stack remote lakes casually.
- D8 Depart from Shangri-La, Lijiang, or return onward with buffer. If altitude felt difficult, use the morning only for a light town layer.

## Route Scene Evidence
- D1 - Kunming lake / park recovery buffer: Kunming light recovery layer. Optional. Use this only as a light Kunming arrival buffer; do not read it as Stone Forest or a full sightseeing day.
- D2 - Dali Old Town and Erhai edge: Dali Old Town arrival base. Must keep. D2 needs a real Dali old-town base after the Kunming transfer, not only a road move north.
- D2 - Dali Old Town and Erhai edge: Erhai first lake edge. Must keep. This ties the first Dali evening to Erhai instead of making Dali feel like a vague overnight stop.
- D2 - Dali Old Town and Erhai edge: Dali base arrival texture. Keep because the transfer day still needs a calm Dali sense of place before the fuller D3 slow day.
- D3 - Dali Xizhou / Erhai / Cangshan slow day: Xizhou slow-day proof. Must keep. Xizhou gives D3 a real village chapter rather than another generic Dali old-town repeat.
- D3 - Dali Xizhou / Erhai / Cangshan slow day: Cangshan day option. Keep because Cangshan is one of the D3 choices, but it should still depend on weather and walking comfort.
- D3 - Dali Xizhou / Erhai / Cangshan slow day: Erhai slow-day layer. Keep because the second Dali day should protect lake time instead of treating Erhai as a quick pass-through.
- D3 - Dali Xizhou / Erhai / Cangshan slow day: Cangshan weather check. Optional. Use this as the weather-aware mountain layer when Cangshan fits the group better than a village or cafe day.
- D4 - Lijiang Old Town / Shuhe low-pressure evening: Lijiang Old Town arrival. Must keep. D4 should land in Lijiang clearly, with the evening kept lower pressure after the Dali transfer.
- D4 - Lijiang Old Town / Shuhe low-pressure evening: Shuhe soft evening option. Keep because Shuhe is the lower-pressure D4 evening alternative when Lijiang Old Town would feel too crowded.
- D4 - Lijiang Old Town / Shuhe low-pressure evening: Lijiang base texture. Keep because the Lijiang base must feel real before the route chooses Baisha, Shuhe, or the snow mountain on D5.
- D5 - Lijiang Baisha / Shuhe / Jade Dragon choice: Baisha old-town layer. Must keep. Baisha is the cleanest low-pressure alternative to forcing every group into a heavy snow-mountain day.
